Mrs. Jessie B. Riley Short, Burkesville, KY (1927-2014)

She was a native of Monroe Co., KY and a resident of Cumberland County at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bessie Blythe Riley and the widow of Sammy Short. She leaves two direct living descendants plus two on the way. She was a seamstress for Bob Evans Manufacturing Corporation.

Mrs. Jessie B. Riley Short, age 87, of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 3pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Todd Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Murley Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 3pmCT, on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 until the funeral hour on Wednesday.

She was born in Monroe County, Kentucky on Monday, April 11, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bessie Blythe Riley. She died Monday, June 16, 204, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 5 days.

She was a seamstress for Bob Evans Manufacturing Corporation.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Short; her brother, Ervin Riley; her sister, Jewell Riley Riddle and her son-in-law, Tom Boston. She is survived by the following:
  • Her daughter: Bernice S. Boston of Burkesville, Kentucky

  • Her sister: Vennie Pitcock of Louisville, Kentucky

  • Her brother: Myrl Riley of Burkesville, Kentucky

  • Her grandchildren: Tammy (and James) Dyer and Kim Sharp

  • Her great-grandchildren: Kayla (and Coty) Walker, Kristi (and Bryant) Young, T. J. Branham and Trevor Dyer

  • Her great-great-grandson: Wyatt Walker

  • Two great-great-grandchildren: on the way, Sawyer Dale Walker and Skylar Jessie Young.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions be made to We Care of Burkesville, Kentucky.
