Barbara Dabney, Taylor County, KY (1941- 2014)

She professed faith in Christ and was an active member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. She had taught Sunday School for some 49 years. She was a graduate of Campbellsville College with a degree in psychology and sociology and a minor in education and attained a master's degree from Western Kentucky University in Education with an emphasis in Counseling. She was employed with Adanta for ten years. She and Irene Melton formed the Caregivers Support Group and she was a founder and Grand Marm of the Campbellsville Red Hatters "Hattitude" Club. She was named Central Kentucky News Journal's Woman of the Year in 2010.

Barbara Dabney, age 72, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 1:50pmET, Monday, June 9, 2014, in Campbellsville.

Funeral services were at 11amET, Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Campbellsville Baptist Church in Campbellsville by Dr. James Jones and Dr. Mike O'Neal. Burial is in Brookside Cemetery, W Main Street, Cambpellsville, KY.



Pallbearers: Joel Bennett, Dr. David Montgomery, Phil Allan Bertram, David Prow, Lynn Colvin, Paul D. Rogers, Henry Ford, Dr. Eugene Shively, and Tonnie Ford.

Barbara Dabney of Campbellsville, daughter of the late James Everett Allen and Lena Mae Phillips Allen Douglas. She was born November 23, 1941 in Elkhorn, Taylor County, Kentucky. She died Monday, June 9, 2014, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 72 years, 6 months, and 16 days.

She professed faith in Christ and was an active member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. She had taught Sunday School for some 49 years.

She was a graduate of Campbellsville College with a degree in psychology and sociology and a minor in education and attained a master's degree from Western Kentucky University in Education with an emphasis in Counseling.

She was employed with Adanta for ten years. She and Irene Melton formed the Caregivers Support Group and she was a founder and Grand Marm of the Campbellsville Red Hatters "Hattitude" Club.

She was named Central Kentucky News Journal's Woman of the Year in 2010.

She united in marriage to Donald Dabney February 10, 1962.

Besides her husband, Donald Dabney of Campbellsville, KY, she is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Kristi Dabney Peterson

  • And one son and daughter-in-law: Donald Allen Dabney and Susan Dabney of Campbellsville, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Kendall Blair Peterson, Trey Peterson, Donald Manis Dabney, Paige Dabney and Peyton Hershel Dabney

  • One niece: Missy Allen and her daughter, Alicia of Columbus, Ohio

  • Aunt and Uncle: Mary and Reed Wilson of Campbellsville, KY

  • Chosen family: Mildred (Mrs. George) Willson of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several cousins and many other relatives and friends
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Larry Keith Allen and her grandparents, Jim and Maggie Allen and Robert and Mary Phillips.

Expresssions of sympathy may be donations to Gideon Bibles, Relay or Life or Green River Ministrie and may be made a the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.
