KSP Post 15 Activity for May, 2014

Post 15 had 3 fatalities for month; total year to date 12, compared to only 7 in previous year

COLUMBIA, KY - During the month of May 2014, there were 16 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

There were three fatal collisions during the month of May in the Post 15 area:


  • Elizabeth Pittman, age 36 of Lebanon KY was killed on 05/09/14 in Marion Co KY
  • Danielle M Symmes, age 21 of Columbia KY was killed on 05/14/14 in Adair Co KY
  • Donnie G Thrasher, age 77 of Burkesville KY was killed on 05/31/14 in Cumberland Co KY
This brings our yearly fatality count to 12 compared with 7 through this same period in 2013.

State wide fatality count stands at 230 compared with 243 through this same period in 2013.

During the month of May 2014, there were 1109 citations written, 40 courtesy notices written, 1961 vehicles inspected, 697 complaints answered, 77 motorists assisted, 46 criminal cases opened and 282 criminal arrests made.
