Dessie Mae Shepard, 79, of Russell Springs, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at her home.

Funeral service for Dessie Mae Shepard will be 10amCT, Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. David Withers and Bro. James Robertson officiating. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Monday. Interment will be in the Mill Springs National Cemetery, 9044 W. Highway 80, Nancy, KY.

She was born Wednesday, October 3, 1934 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Allen & Mary Linda Simpson Hadley. She died Thursday, June 5, 2014, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 2 days.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Woodrow Shepard and 2 sons, Frank Shepard, and Barry Shepard
Survivors include the following:
  • Two children: Thomas Lee (Rose Ann) Shepard, Crittenden, KY; Linda (Larry) Withers, Russell Springs, KY

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Fourteen great grandchildren

  • Daughter-in-law: Wanda Shepard-Gaier

  • Half brother: Delmar Foster, Columbia, KY
