Lois Cooper Shepherd, Russell County, KY (1925-2014)

She was a member of a highly regarded Russell County family. She was the daughter of the late Cosby & Golda Meece Cooper. Her husband, Bro. Louis Shepherd, survives. She leaves seven direct living descendants. She was a retired teacher and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Lois Cooper Shepherd, 88, of Russell Springs, KY, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014. at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY

Funeral services for Lois Cooper Shepherd will be 3pmCT, Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the Friendship Baptist Church with Bro. John C. Wilson & Bro. Danny Withers officiating. Friends may call from 6pm-8pmCT, Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, and after 1pmCT, Sunday at the church. Burial will be in the Smith Memorial Cemetery.



Lois Cooper Shepherd, Russell County, KY (1925-2014)


She was born Monday, September 14, 1925 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Cosby & Golda Meece Cooper. She died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 7 days.

She was a retired teacher and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Vernon Shepherd and a brother, Kenneth Cooper.

Survivors include the following:
  • Husband: Bro. Louis Shepherd, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two children: Stephen Louis Shepherd, Antioch, TN; and Sherri Lois Shepherd, Louisville, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Stephen Louis Shepherd, II, Benjamin Lee Bruck Laura Elizabeth Bruck, and Emily Samantha Bruck

  • One great grandchild: Shaden Eastwood

  • Two sisters: Alma (Mike) Duffy, Russell Springs, KY; and Anna (Rex) Slechter, Crestwood, KY

  • One brother: Vernon Elliott (Ramona) Cooper, Niceville, Florida
