This is Art light show drew over 100 people Display showcased some amazing collaborative creations - with the Adair County Art, Energy, and Science Departments, guided by teachers Mrs. Debra Wimmer, Mrs. Shelia Willis, and Mrs. Heather Spoon, joining forces for a most memorable night for all who came out to enjoy it. Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Shamarie Claiborne Media Publicity Coordinator, Adair County School District Tuesday night, May 20, 2014, the "This is Art"event had over 100 people present for the viewing. I will have to say from a personal standpoint, it was one of best art shows I have ever attended! The pieces were all light-centered and illuminated the Arboretum. What I think made it even more special was the fact that not only did art students have pieces but students from cross disciplines participated as well. This wonderful night was the "baby" of Mrs. Debra Wimmer, Mrs. Shelia Willis, and Mrs. Heather Spoon. The Art, Energy, and Science departments all worked together to collaborate this memorable night of unique one-of-a-kind art created by three academic disciplines that one doesn't always think of mixing together. The Adair County School District is truly blessed to have such innovative teachers who think outside the box within the district. Yet, the truly lucky ones are the students of Adair County High School because not only are these ladies smart creative women but they all genuinely care about their students and want to provide opportunities for them to learn while being engaged at the same time. The Energy Academy students want to give special thanks to Connie Burris for the donation of 100 glass spaghetti jars. Without those jars their piece entitled "Light Cylinder" would not have been possible! Students and staff both want to thank the community for their support in both attendance and materials. We hope next year will be even bigger! - Shamarie Claiborne Artshow13 The "Blooming Lights" by Toby Green. His hope had been to express the unique freshness of color and light in the springtime. He succeeded! - Shamarie Claiborne, Media Publicity Director, Adair County School District This story was posted on 2014-05-22 14:19:59
