Iva Jo Powell, 81, Casey Co., KY (1932-2014)

Mrs. Powell was a retired machinist for Zenith American Solutions. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and cooking. She was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Oris Ansel and Thelma Lee Luttrell Elliott. She was the widow of Arlin Powell. She leaves 13 direct living descendants.

Iva Jo Powell, of Oak Hill Road, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Casey County Hospital. She was 81.

Funeral services will be at 12pm noon CT/1pmET, Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Paul Readnour officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Monday, May 19, 2014, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Born Tuesday, July 5, 1932, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Oris Ansel and Thelma Lee Luttrell Elliott. She died Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 12 days.

Mrs. Powell was a retired machinist for Zenith American Solutions. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and cooking. Survivors include:
  • Her daughters Meta Rose Carter of Liberty, KY; and Darlene Parton of Shepherdsville, KY

  • Brother: David Elliott of Cincinnati, OH

  • Sisters: Melline Hodge of Liberty, KY; and Bobbie Sferra of Cincinnati, OH

  • Four grandchildren

  • Seven great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlin Powell; son, Foy Luttrell; six brothers; and one sister.

Arrangements entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY.
