Avis Marie Shepherd, 88, of Russell Springs, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the Russell County Hospital.

Funeral services for Avis Marie Shepherd will be 12pmCT, Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Delt Haydon officiating. Friends may call after 10amCT, Thursday, May 15, 2014. Burial in the Tarter Cemetery.

She was born Tuesday, September 15, 1925 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Jesse & Laura Thomas Powell. She died Sunday, May 11, 2014, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 26 days.
BR> She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Pascal Shepherd; a grandson, James Russell Shepherd; and three sisters, Lucille Powell, and Elma Powell, Erma Muse, and a half brother, Jasper Earls.

Survivors include the following:
  • A son: Phillip (Pamela) Shepherd, Russell Springs, KY

  • Sister: Imogene Brockman, West Chester, Ohio

  • Several neices and nephews
