Adair County High School will be forever transformed - ALAN W. REED

By Supt. Alan W. Reed

Mr. Jeff Adams, Principal at Lake Cumberland Area Technology Center and I received official notification today from Kentucky Department of Education that welding and health science positions for Adair County have been approved for next year. The two positions will be posted soon with qualifications and procedure for application.

Beginning next year, all ACHS students will be enrolled in one of 39 career paths leading to professional or industrial certification. Adair County High School will forever be transformed.

I am ecstatic about the opportunities the new center will bring for Adair County students and this community. Students will have many more options for jobs that pay well within driving distance of Columbia.

I want to personally thank everyone who has been involved in assuring this facility was approved and funded. I look forward to that first group of health occupations students wearing white coats and being "pinned" at a special ceremony. We also will plan to open the new Welding/Metal Fabrication unit to the public in late fall. These students will complete with a D.O.T. certification in welding that will make them immediately employable.

Ground-breaking on the new satellite center will take place in the near future and we hope to turn the event into a community celebration. I want to personally thank everyone who has been involved over the past 30 months in assuring this facility received funding and approval. The whole community came through to make this happen. We have had to jump through a lot of hoops to get to this point. - Alan W. Reed, Superintendent, Adair County Schools, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY 42728. Phone 270-384-2476
