Delmer E. Roy, Russell County, KY (1921-2014)

He was a highly respected citizen of Russell County, KY. He was a POW while serivng in he US Army in WWII. He was a farmer and a member of the Pine Grove United Baptist Church. He was the son of hte late Bosie & Anna Frances Norfleet Roy. His wife, Edna Lois Gosser Roy, survives. He leaves 20 direct living descendants.

Delmer E. Roy, 92, of Russell Springs, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at his home.

Funeral service for Delmer E. Roy will be at 10amCT, Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Joe Gosser and Bro. Alan Voils officiating. Friends may call after 5pmCT, Friday, April 25, 2014. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Hwy 3525, Russell Springs, KY.

He was born Tuesday, August 30, 1921 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Bosie & Anna Frances Norfleet Roy. He died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in Russell County, KY, at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 24 days.

He was a POW while serivng in he US Army in WWII.. He was a farmer and a member of the Pine Grove United Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters; Ersie Roy, Flona Wilson, Marie Norman, and Lorcie Roy.

Survivors include the following:
  • His wife: Edna Lois Gosser Roy

  • Three children: Darrell (Paulette) Roy; Charles (Carol) Roy; and Anna (Danny) Terry, all of Russell Springs, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Carrie (Gary) Russell, Melissa (Todd) McGowan, Jeremy (Ashley) Roy, Brandon (Nicki) Terry, Valerie Terry and Derek Propes

  • Twelve great grandchildren
