Andrew Cowan: Jobs more important issue than Wet/Dry vote

Comments re photo 54516 Wet-Dry Election petition now circulating in Adair Co KY

By Andrew Cowan
Personal opinion, personal commentary

Just a thought I'd like to share . . .

Is really a Wet or Dry vote the biggest decision we (Adair County/Columbia) should be concerned with right now?

It is my opinion that we should be more concerned with getting/creating jobs and recruiting companies to our area. Everyone comments about having restaurants that serve alcohol and how much the money may improve the area.

Well, were are we going to earn the money that will allow our citizens to contribute to these things we want? JOBS!!!! As employment leaves this area, more and more people are going to be living on lower fixed incomes.

That means we are going to have to tighten our belts some and determine what is more important. I ask Adair County to consider what's more important. Is it buying alcohol or being able to provide food and clothing for our families?

When it is determined that Adair County Citizens can maintain a stable income, then we should consider/vote whether we need or want other luxuries for our community! - Andrew Cowan
