Opal A. Grider, 97, S Hwy 127, Russell Springs, KY, died at 11:35amCT, Sunday, April 20, 2014, at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral services will be at 11amCT, Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY, with Bro. Randy Smith offiiciating. Burial will be in the Rexroat Cemetery, Jamestown, KY. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2014, after 5pmCT, at the funeral home.

Opal A. Grider was born in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, on Monday, May 22, 1916, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late John C. and Ada Pearl (Starnes) Gaskin. She died Sunday, April 20, 2014, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 97 years, 10 months, and 28 days.

She was a school cook. She was a member of the Welfare Baptist Church, Jamestown, KY.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three daughters: Bernia Jean, wife of Randolph Dunbar, Louisville, KY; Eileen, wife of Corbett Combest, QuartzSite, AZ; and Wavia, wife of H.F. Rexroat, Russell Springs, KY

  • A sister: Mary Cooper, Russell Springs, KY

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • One great great grandchild
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Wilson and one great granddaughter, Brittany Rexroat.

The H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY, in charge of arrangements.
