Clement Eugene "Gene" Murphy, 78, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Cremation has been chosen and a memorial service will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 11amCT/12pm noon ET at the Pine Grove Church in Casey County with Bro. Jeff Edwards officiating. The family will visit with friends after the service at the church.

He was born Monday, March 2, 1936, in Casey County, KY. He died Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 78 years, 1 months, and 11 days.

He was preceded in death by his father, Otha "Coy" Murphy, a stepson, Greg Janes and a brother.

He was a member of Pine Grove Church in Casey County and liked to fish, hunt and spend time with his family. Survivors include:
  • His wife: Shirley Mings Murphy of Campbellsville, KY

  • His mother: Claudia Bottoms Murphy of Campbellsville, KY

  • One son: Phillip Murphy (Tammy) of Ninevah, Indiana

  • Four daughters: Beth Perez-Martin (Gary) of Austin, Indiana, Tammy Coulston of Flat Rock, Indiana, Jeannie Hornback (Russell Roy) of Upton, Kentucky, Lisa Wilburn (James) of Memphis, Tennessee

  • One step-daughter: Renea Janes of Campbellsville, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Ten great-grandchildren
  • Four brothers and one sister
In lieu of flowers, donations to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
