Robert Cummings: Davis Bros would have rest of milk truck story

Divco dairy trucks had tiny motors, low gears, got great mpg. Top speed would not have broken limit on US 127 between Russell Springs and Jamestown - 45 mpg.

Robert Cumming writes:
Not for sure, but I would bet either of brothers Ernest or Leon Davis in Russell Springs would have the real story on that milk truck. Those commercial Divco dairy trucks had tiny motors with low gears to haul heavy loads with great fuel economy. They wouldn't make over 45mph, but would run all day on a small tank of fuel. -Robert Cumming

Cumberland All-Star Dairy Delivery van, Russell Springs, KY

2014-04-13 - Russell Springs, KY - Photo by Tommy Bailey. Can you imagine how this vehicle looked when it was new and the delivery guy with his white uniform delivered dairy products to your door? It's great just as it is, but wouldn't also be a delight if restored and made a feature of local parades and cruise ins. The wonderful old delivery van was seen in Russell Springs, KY. Additional details would be welcome on No. "10," its make (Divco?), vintage, drivers, territory. Anyone remember? Photo taken Saturday afternoon, April 12, 2014 by Tommy Bailey.
