Bertrom H. Sneed, 80, Taylor Co., KY (d. April 3, 2014)

He was a native of Adair County, KY, the son of the late Hershel & Maggie Sneed. He later moved to Macon, GA where he lived for several years before returning to Kentucky and settling in Campbellsville. He had served in the US Army and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. His wife of over 67 years, Mary Jo Wooley Sneed, survives. He leaves 26 direct living descendants.

Bertrom H. Sneed, 80, of Campbellsville, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Baptist Health Louisville, KY.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10amCT/11amET, Monday at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home, 503 E. Main Street, Campbellsville, KY, with burial to follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Saturday, April 5, 2014, and from 1pm-5pmCT/2pm-6pmET, Sunday, April 6th at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.



He was retired from the Brown Williamson Tobacco Company where he had worked for over 30 years.

Born in Adair County, KY, he was the son of the late Hershel and Maggie Sneed. He later moved to Macon, GA where he lived for several years before returning to Kentucky and settling in Campbellsville. He had served in the US Army and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

He married Mary Jo Wooley on July 14, 1956, who survives.

Other survivors include the following:
  • Five children: Bertrom Sneed and his wife, Carol of Macon, GA; Debra Johnson and her husband Wayne of Louisville, KY; Steven Sneed and his wife, Leda of Macon, GA; Peggy Rigdon and her husband, Greg of Campbellsville, KY; and Shelby Sneed and his wife, Andrea of Macon, GA

  • Sisters: Virginia Jones and Montry Harris and her husband, Bill, all of Greensburg, KY

  • A sister-in-law, Faye Sneed, of Greensburg, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren

  • Nine great-grandchildren

  • And many nieces, nephews and cousins
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Claves L. Sneed and a grandson, Matthew Scott Sneed.
