Mrs. Dessie Uldeen Garner Ferguson, Burkesville, KY (1923-2014)

She was a native of the Modoc Community of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of Louisville, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Wilbur S. and Mattie Ethel Spears Garner. She leave 13 direct living descendants spanning 4 generations. She was a member of the Brandenburg Church of God and was a factory worker for the Logan Company.

Mrs. Dessie Uldeen Garner Ferguson, age 90, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at her residence in Louisville, KY.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 2pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Blayne Burnett, Jackie Sewell and Bro. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Modoc Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 3pmCT on Sunday, March 30, 2014 until the funeral hour on Monday.

She was born in the Modoc Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky on Monday, September 24, 1923, the daughter of Wilbur S. and Mattie Ethel Spears Garner. She died Thursday, March 27, 2014, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 90 years, 6 months, and 3 days.

She was a member of the Brandenburg Church of God and was a factory worker for the Logan Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Bessie Sewell, Virginia Young and Gwen Wray.

She is survived by the following:
  • Her daughters: Patsy (and Randy) Bryant of Louisville, Kentucky; Peggy Ferguson of Louisville, Kentucky; and Margaret (and Jeff) Vincent of Lumberton, Texas

  • Her sisters: Nola Spears of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Marie (and Weldon) Rowe of Burkesville, Kentucky

  • Her grandchildren: Michelle (John) Embrey, Dana Burnett, Donella (Charlie) Armstrong and Justin Vincent

  • Her great-grandchildren: Rusty (Ashley) Newton, Christy Newton, Blayne Burnett and Brenden Burnett

  • And her great-great-grandchildren: Harlee Crow, Ava Newton and Logan Newton
