Admission to the center is free for this event. Reforest Frankfort has become a staple event in the community that the citizens of Frankfort look forward to each year. This fun and productive day will be combined with Frankfort’s celebration of Arbor Day and include the planting of 2,000 trees as well as tree giveaways, free food, live bluegrass music, children’s activities, door prizes and much more. Children can also participate in an interactive art exhibit designed by local artist Jennifer Zingg. Participants will have the opportunity to paint a forest that, after its completion, will be on public display at Salato. This event will occur rain or shine and participants are encouraged to bring their own shovels and gloves. While dogs are allowed on most areas of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources campus, they are not permitted at Salato to avoid agitating wild animals in the exhibit areas.
