Ruth Noreine Kidd Davis, 87, Green Co., KY (1926-2014)

She was a native of Illinois and a resident of Green County, KY at the time of her death. She was the widow of Wealby L. David, her husband of over 54 years. She leaves 38 direct living descendants. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. She was retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. as a machine operator having worked 26 1/2 years.

Mrs. Ruth Noreine Kidd Davis, 87 of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Noreine Kidd Davis will be conducted at 11amCT, Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Macedonia Cemetery. Bro. Timmy Glass and Bro. Larry Wisdom officiating. Visitation is requested 4pm-8pmCT, Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Friday until time of the funeral service.



Ruth Noreine Kidd Davis, 87, Green Co., KY (1926-2014)


Mrs. Ruth Noreine Kidd Davis of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Dewey Kidd and Clessie Davenport Kidd, was born on Monday, September 20, 1926 in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois, and departed this life on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Greensburg, Green County, KY. She was 87 years, 5 months, and 26 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. She was retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. as a machine operator having worked 26 1/2 years.

She united in marriage to Wealby L. Davis on October 9, 1943 who preceded her in death on January 31, 2008.

Survivors include the following:
  • A daughter: Dixie Carolyn Estes of Lexington, KY

  • Two sons and a daughter-in-law: Leon Randall Davis of Magnolia, KY; and Raymond and Patrice Davis of Greensburg, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren: Deborah Forker, Cindy Straith, Elizabeth Estes, Robert Estes, Terry Davis, Regina McDowell, Sammy Davis, Jaimie Gilpin, Daphney Judd, Tracy Shell, Anthony Farrior, Ryan Houston, and Brian Houston

  • Nineteen great-grandchildren

  • Three great-great-grandchildren

  • A special nephew and his wife: Bill and Gail Carter of North Carolina

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by a daughter: Brenda Pepper in 1997; a sister and brother: Mayme Gray and Rollin Kidd.
