Kathryn Miller: Stuck on Melson Ridge - and unhappy about it By Kathryn Miller Personal opinion of the writer Whoever thinks the road crew does such a great job obviously doesn't live out in the boonies. It seems they don't really care about anyone that doesn't live in town or on a main highway. The county makes us pay these taxes on the roads, but they refuse to maintain them or clear them. We have been stuck out here in Melson Ridge for 2 days now and we can't out because our road is a solid sheet of ice and covered with snow. Not even an emergency vehicle could make it out here right now. My husband attempted to go to work this morning only to have to come home after less than 2/10 of a mile because our 4 wheel drive couldn't even get through. He started spinning. Other counties with lower budgets seem to maintain their roads a lot better than Adair county so I don't know what excuse this county has for it. Either they need to get out to the county roads and actually do their jobs or the county needs to stop charging us for a service we are not receiving. - Kathryn Miller This story was posted on 2014-03-04 07:20:51
