Travel Advisory: Extreme caution urged if driving today

By Chris Jessie

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY - Crews continue working hard to plow roads throughout District 4. Salt and calcium were laid down on primary routes Sunday morning and afternoon. As temperatures fall into the lower 20s and single digits tonight, motorists must understand that chemical treatments become ineffective. Our only option to clear roads at these extremes is plowing. Most roads were plowed for sleet overnight but have become covered again.

As snow continues to come down through mid-morning, roads will remain slick. Blowing snow is also quickly re-covering already plowed roads.

If travel is necessary, please know your driving limits and do not place yourself in a position to be stranded. Use extreme caution. - Chris Jessie, Public Information Officer, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 4 - Elizabethtown
