Record crowd honors Hood Lodge #838 50 year pin recipients Click on headline for item with photo(s) By Ed Waggener There was a record crowd on hand, some 65-75 persons, present to see three members of Hood Lodge #838, Lloyd Alley, Claude Atchley, and Condy Young receive 50 year pins. The ceremony took place at 10amCT, Saturday, March 1, 2014, in a break in the Lodge's Meet the Candidates Pancake & Sausage & Ham breakfast fundraiser - a very busy one, buoyed by the large number of candidates in attendance. Lodge Members Tim Baker, Robert Burton, and John Shoffner presided over the kitchen, and Tim Baker presided at the 50 year pin presentation. Bro. Willard Bryant gave the invocation and reminisced about past days at the lodge with stories about fights with wasp invasions, changes in the lodge hall structure, and remembered some of the colorful antics of member Raymond Sanders, who was called down when he sprayed his underarms with wasp spray as though it were deoderant. Bryant and long time member Terry Farris both estimated the Saturday gathering for the pin ceremony to be the largest in history. This story was posted on 2014-03-02 14:57:29
