JDGEE: This may make you think before complaining

JDGee writes:
Perhaps the next time I start to complain about that pothole near my house or open my mouth to piteously mewl that my road wasn't cleared thirty seconds after the first snowflake hit the pavement, this short piece from a century ago will come to mind: "The roads in this county are in a fearful condition and have been for several weeks. We know a party who went from Columbia to Jamestown, a few days ago, driving a double team, and he was seven hours going over the road, traveling all the time. The distance is 18 miles." - JDGee
(From the Adair County News, February 25, 1914. Eighteen miles in seven hours is slightly over two and a half miles an hour.)
