Layton L. Rogers, Sr. of Liberty, KY passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital. He was 81.

Funeral services are 1pmCT/2pmET, Friday, February 28, 2014 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Creech Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Whited Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Funeral Squad and the Fort Knox Honor Guard. Visitation is Friday from from 10amCT/11amET, until funeral service.

Born Friday, November 18, 1932 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late John Webb and Flora Bland Rodgers. He Died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 7 days.

He was a machinist and retired Army veteran, serving his country for 20 years, 3 months and 7 days. He was a member of the Liberty Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons: Leslie Rodgers, Jr. of Colorado; and Michael Rodgers of Liberty, KY

  • Two daughters: Patrecia Young of Lebanon, KY; and Bridgett Hill of Utah

  • A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren

  • Brother: Dennis Rodgers of Phoenix, Arizona

  • And four sisters: Retha Drostie of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Pearl Field of Somerville, Ohio, Sandra Mills of Louisville and Pam Price of Liberty, KY

  • Layton's extended family include: Jessica (and Chris) Edwards and Mary (and Keith) Brown

  • A special friend: Karen Noe

  • And six special grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Clayton, Gene, Dean and Jerry Rodgers; and two sisters, Bernetha Haskett and Marilyn Bernard.
