John Lay, of Hwy 1547, Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at his residence. He was 75. Cremation rites have been honored by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY. There are no services scheduled at this time.



John Lay, Casey County, KY (1939-2014)


Born February 12, 1939, in Danville, Hendricks County, IN, he was a son of the late Raymond and Adell Murphy Lay. He died Wednesday, February 12, 2014, in Liberty, Casey County, IN at the age of 75 years.

John was a farmer, drywaller, and painter. Survivors include the following:
  • His wife: Rebecca Hogue Lay

  • His son: Charles Lay of Liberty, KY

  • Daughters: Jyll Shoemaker Lay of Liberty, KY

  • Brothers: Marshall Leigh of Liberty, KY; Preston Lay of Nashville, TN; and Glendon Lay of Liberty, KY

  • Sisters: Betty Warner of Campbellsville, KY; Emma Sutherlin of Arnold, MO; Linda Helm of Branson, KY; Lecia True of Moreland, KY; and Sheila Hogue of Liberty, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Charles Taylor Lay II, Adam Lay, Bryan Morgan, and MaKayla Harris

  • One great-grandson: Eli Lay
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Loretta Lay Harris and two brothers, Terry and Gary Lay.

McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, in charge of arrangements.
