He was a native of Casey County, KY and a resident of Taylor County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late William Thomas Barnett and Lizzie Powell Barnett. His marriage to Nellie Mills Barnett endured over 68 yars until her death in 1968. He leaves 29 direct living descendants. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer and construction worker

Tommie Jess Barnett, 93, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 3:45pmET, Monday, February 10, 2014 in Campbellsville.

Funeral services will be at 10amCT/11amET, Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Dr. Paul W. Patton. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old US 68, Campbellsville, KY.



Tommie Jess Barnett, Taylor Co., KY (1920 - 2014)


Tommie Jess Barnett of Campbellsville, KY, was the son of the late William Thomas Barnett and Lizzie Powell Barnett. He was born Tuesday, May 4, 1920 in Casey County, Kentucky. He died Monday, February 10, 2014 in Campbellsville, KY, at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church.

He was a retired farmer and construction worker.

He united in marriage to Nellie Mills, March, 1943. She preceded him in death August 24, 2011.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters and one son: Donna Cox and husband, Tim of Campbellsville, KY; Tina Estes and husband, Henry of Greensburg, KY; and Tom Barnett and wife, Diane of Lexington, KY

  • Son-in-law: Kenneth Barnett of Campbellsville, KY

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Sixteen great-grandchildren

  • Three great-great-grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • and many other relatives and friends
He was also preceded in death by two daughters: Bonnie Barnett and Joan Fisher Ford, one brother and five sisters: Delmer Barnett and wife, Ethel, Della Burton, Pearl Brogan, Nona Scott and husband, Ray, Edna Patton and husband, Robert , Lorene Marshall and a sister at a young age.
