John Cox photo, W of Yellowstone, resonates with Bill Troutwine

It was his work area while Bill Troutwine was Sheriff of Petroleum County. 'It is absolutely some of the most beautiful real estate on earth,' he says.

Bill Troutwine writes:
The instant I saw this photo I got a choked feeling and a sad feeling in my heart. I instantly recognized the area in the photograph. It is along the Gallatin River, just north of West Yellowstone near where highway 191 enters back into Yellowstone Park.

For five years, and prior to me being appointed as sheriff of Petroleum County this was my work area. I regularly patrolled through this area. My patrol area was from West Yellowstone and the Wyoming border north through the ski resort of Big Sky continuing north to the town of Gallatin Gateway. This area is referred to as the Canyon Area it is absolutely some of the most beautiful real estate on earth. While seeing the photo made me a little sad it also brought back some of the most wonderful memories of my life. Thanks so much for the wonderful photo. --Bill Troutwine
