More on Sibs, including Ralph ShearerX2 in 1,000 point club Glory days then and now in Adair County Basketball: Information is coming in about other 1,000 point club ACHS sibs to now include: The Fudge Bros., the Walkup Bros., (Ralph Cooney Shearer, whose career equals the club in one Giant of a Man, Kevin & Jackson Godfrey, the Bomars, and a question about the McQueary Boys. Click on headline for complete story Thanks to the contributor who noted that the Fudge Bros. were a brother team were siblings scored 1,000 points, each, for Adair County High School, some history is surfacing. This morning we received word of the Walkup Bros, and now we have this additional information - not with the sports specificity to warrant taking to the bank, but a good clue for any basketball historian to get nail the record down with exactitude. First of all, we're were told by a caller that Ralph "Cooney" Shearer, the legendary All State on John Burr's State Tournament teams, scored over 2,000 points - all by himself. Everybody knows Mr. Ralph (he's a gentleman planter in the wealthy north end of the county now) is bigger than life, and therefore probably played with the power of two brothers. And Kevin (1980) and Godfrey (1985) Jackson both are over 1,000 point scorers. Godfrey played on a State Championship team. Then a caller wondered about Bill and Milton Bomar, and thinks they may qualify for the club. Finally there''s all those Walker McQueary scions: Surely two of them scored 1,000 points or more: Anybody know the record of Stephen, Rollin, and/or Ralph McQueary? - CM This story was posted on 2014-02-08 11:39:13
