Marilyn Witty Deweese, Summer Shade, KY (1941-2014)

She was retired from Houchens and was a member of the Hickory College Church of Christ. She was a member of a large, highly regarded Metcalfe County family, the daughter of the Alpha Owen and Marie Harbison Witty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Joe Deweese. She leaves 19 direct living descendants.

Marilyn Witty DeWeese, 72 of Summer Shade passed away Friday, February 07, 2014 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 2pmCT, Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Butler Funeral Home with Bro. Gary L. Richardson officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3pmCT until 8pmCT, Saturday, February 8, 2014, and after 9amCT, Sunday at the funeral home.



Marilyn Witty Deweese, Summer Shade, KY (1941-2014)


She was born March 7, 1941, the daughter of the late Alpha Owen and Marie Harbison Witty. She died Friday, February 7, 2014, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 77 years, 11 months.

She was retired from Houchens and was a member of the Hickory College Church of Christ.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Sheila and husband Kenny Scott, of Summer Shade, KY

  • Three sons; Bruce and wife Cathy Bell of Summer Shade, KY; Brad and wife Cherie Bell of Summer Shade, KY; and Chad and wife Meloney DeWeese of Glasgow, KY

  • Ten grandchildren; Tiffany (Brad) Wilson, Mandy Scott, Patrick Faulkner, Ryan (Ryan) Fowler, Morgan Bell (finance' Coty Worley), Lincoln Bell, Logan Bell, Cari O'Dell, Justin O'Dell and Gracelyn DeWeese

  • Five great grandchildren: Travis, Hunter and Lucas Wilson, Mason Faulkner and Lila Fowler

  • One brother: Jerry (Barbara) Witty of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Three nephews: Greg (Patty) Witty and Scott (Missy) Witty of Bowling Green, KU; and Todd (Angie) Witty of Glasgow, KY

  • One special brother in law, Wendell (Mariea) DeWeese of Summer Shade, KY

  • Three aunts and a host of cousins.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Joe DeWeese.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
