Wayne Armitage: Against trees for line fence posts Comments re article 65099 Will continue to use trees as fence posts By Wayne Armitage Personal commentary So let me get this straight: You put holes in the trees so that in the spring the sap will come out. In time the tree will die. Sounds like a wonderful idea to me. The barb wire that the person uses will rust and cause disease if you get cut by it. Just because it has been done for years doesn't mean it is right. You can now pound pole in the ground. No post hole digging and no concrete. Let's just say that the trees are not yours. Your neighbor planted them. So it is OK to just destroy them because it has always been that way? So if you have your land surveyed and the trees are on your land then go ahead and kill the trees? We need the trees to provide oxygen for us to breathe. It helps cut down on greenhouse gasses also. --Wayne Armitage This story was posted on 2014-02-06 08:08:05
