Scenic LaRue Co., KY: Winter at Mt. Sherman, Feb. 5, 2013

"Snow and ice might not always be welcome but it's always beautiful for pictures," Lindsay Durbin of Mt. Sherman writes, and shares a bit of the today's scenes on her farm, located just a mile or so north of the Green County line off KY 210. The big highway was pretty clear today, but her side road is still snow and ice covered.

The ice was thin on the near side of the lake, but much thicker near the center. Lindsay Durbin doubts it was thick enough to walk or skate on or do some Minnesote still fishing through the ice. She did test it by throwing a large rock on the heaviest ice and it didn't break. The lake is fine for fishing. She took the photo today at her Mt. Sherman Farm, located off KY 210, about one mile from the Taylor County line. Most roads were clear, but side roads were a bit iffy, enough so that schools were closed in LaRue County today.
