Edgar Ray (Bud) Davidson, Burkesville, KY (1934-2014)

He was a native of Cumberland County and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Walter Davidson and Mary Susan Pierce Davidson and the husband of Della Pennington Davidson who survives. He had strong family ties in Adair and Cumberland Counties. He leaves 6 direct living descendants. He was retired employee of Gibson Lumber Company where he worked for over 30 years, and a member of Pittman Creek Holiness Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Rondal Davidson and one sister, Lou Willie Johnson.

Edgar Ray "Bud" Davidson age 79 of Burkesville, KY passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville, KY.

Funeral service will be Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 2pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main St. Burkesville, KY with burial in the Jones Cemetery. The family requests visitation 3pm-9pmCT, . Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville, KY.



Edgar Ray (Bud) Davidson, Burkesville, KY (1934-2014)


He was born on Tuesday, November 27, 1934 in Cumberland County, KY. He was the son of the late Walter Davidson and Mary Susan Pierce Davidson. He died Monday, January 27, 2014, in Tompkinsville, Monroe County, KY, at the age of 79 years, 2 months.

He was retired employee of Gibson Lumber Company where he worked for over 30 years, and a member of Pittman Creek Holiness Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Rondal Davidson and one sister, Lou Willie Johnson.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Della Pennington Davidson of Burkesville, KY

  • One son: James Davidson and his wife Tamara of Columbia, KY

  • Three daughters: Peggy McClister and her husband Jackie of Burkesville, KY, Janie Cary and her husband Jeff of Celina, TN, and Katherine Davidson of Burkesville, KY

  • Two sisters: Dorothy Pennington and her husband Perry of Breeding, KY and Mary Jessie of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: James A. Davidson and his wife Ruth Ann of Burkesville, KY, and Leo Davidson and his wife Ramona of Burkesville, KY

  • One grandchild: JaTeah Cary of Celina, TN

  • One great grandchild: Shelby Slaughter of Celina, TN

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
