Madeleine: The story of a rejected kid, now a household darling Kid rejected by mother and rescued by Donna Rieder is thriving as a house goat. By three days old, she was head-butting the cats off their feet and using the dog as a trampoline, and running sideways down the hall. Typical kid, Donna Rieder says Click on headline for complete story and photo of Lainey By Miss Donna Rieder Madeleine, aka "Laney," was born on New Years Eve, and her mama rejected her. I found her lying half-dead in the freezing rain on a midnight check-up trip to the barn. After a warm bath and blow-dry, she came to live in the house. She wears newborn diapers with a hole cut for her tail, and gets a bottle of goat milk every fours hours. She likes to sleep on a towel under my desk when I'm working on the computer, and follows me everywhere like a puppy. By three days old, she was head-butting the cats off their feet and using the dog as a trampoline, and running sideways down the hall. By one week, I had to put all my houseplants up out of reach; no, she wasn't wanting to eat them, she wanted to play with the dirt! Typical kid!!! This story was posted on 2014-01-27 15:54:59
