Roxie Lee Davidson Simpson, 83, of Belleville, IL,died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in Belleville.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 27, 2014 at 10amCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. Burkesville, KY with burial in Modoc Cemetery. Family requests visitation 2pm-9pmCT, Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.



Roxie Lee Davidson Simpson, Cumberland Co., KY (1930-2014)


She was born on Thursday, September 22, 1930 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Bedford and Nancy Holman Davidson. She died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, in Belleville, St. Clair County, IL, at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 29 days.

Mrs. Simpson was a beloved mother and grandmother, and a devoted caregiver to numerous children. She was member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Belleville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Winton Edward Simpson, whom she married on May 30, 1946, and who died on January 29, 1996; her parents, Bedford and Nancy Holman Davidson; two brothers, Howard and Arnold Davidson; two sisters, Bethine Carter and Sue Wilson; and three brothers-in-law, Clarence Carter, Wayvell Lee, and Eston Brake. Survivors include:
  • Three daughters: Linda Simpson of Belleville, IL; Kay (Bob) Juenger of Belleville, IL, and Carolyn (Greg) Maack of Collinsville, IL

  • Four grandchildren: Robert (Elizabeth) Juenger, Jason (Leigh Anne) Maack, Daniel (Tina) Juenger, and Melissa (B.J.) Williams

  • Eight great-grandchildren: Cole Budde, Gabriel and Kaitlyn Juenger, Taylor Maack, Chase Juenger, Natalie Maack, Ava Williams, and William Maack

  • Three brothers: Russell (Marie) Davidson, Louisville, KY, Bobby (Beatrice) Davidson, of Burkesville, KY, and Edward (Stella) Davidson of Burkesville, KY

  • Three sisters: Mary Lee of Glasgow, KY; Marie Brake of Indianapolis, IN: and Betty (Marshall) Ferree of New Castle, Indiana>

  • Two sisters-in-law: Runell Davidson, Glasgow, KY; and Betty Davidson; Albany, KY

  • Special friends: Debbie Rockwell and her family of Belleville, Illinois

  • and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
Memorials may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL, to the Alzheimer's Association, or to Meals on Wheels.

Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, in charge of arrangements.
