By Pierce Yarberry News from Lindsey Wilson College LEBANON, TN - Bre Elder's 10-point, 11-rebound double-double and Chanel Roberts' 18 points weren't enough as Lindsey Wilson fell 68-51 to Cumberland (Lebanon, TN) in Mid-South Conference action Thursday night, January 16, 2014. The Blue Raiders (14-5, 4-3) came into the game ranked fifth in the nation in free throw percentage (.740) but only made it to the charity stripe twice all game. Cassidy Martin scored all nine of her points on three-point shooting, while Keosha Wisener came off the bench to contribute nine points. Cumberland opened up the scoring with a 5-0 run, but Lindsey Wilson responded with an 11-3 run of its own to take an 11-8 lead at the 13:15 mark. TaCouya Allen tied the game at 11-11 before both teams exchanged the lead three times. The Bulldogs took a 23-21 lead as Allen made a three-pointer with 7:12 left in the half. Cumberland benefitted from two 5-0 runs as the Bulldogs pushed their lead to 37-29 at the break. Lindsey Wilson made three three-pointers in the first half, but never went to the free-throw line. The Blue Raiders committed nine personal fouls to the Bulldogs five, with Cumberland shooting 8-of-11 from the charity stripe. Cumberland chipped away at the clock, using most of the shot clock on each of its possessions while extending its lead by as many as 19. Martin made a three-pointer to trim the Bulldog lead to 53-46 with 8:41 left in the game, but the Blue Raiders wouldn't get any closer. Wisener snapped the scoreless streak with a shot from beyond the arc, but by then the Bulldogs had whittled the clock down to 2:12 and held a comfortable 65-49 lead.
