Bernice Flowers scholarship apps hand-delivered to ACHS

By Victoria Pike, president
Adair County Democratic Women's Club

It was brought to my attention last night by Ann Young that the applications for this year's Bernice Flowers Scholarship were not in the counselors office at Adair County High School for this year.

I have just delivered them.

This scholarship is given by the Adair County Democratic Women's Club and is forwarded on for elgibility to the Kentucky Democratic Women's Club for two $1,500 scholarships. Ours is for $500.

The applications must be completed in full and returned to the office by Feb. 20, 2014. If not complete, with essay, the application will not be considered for any of the scholarships.

Applicants must meet all qualifications for elgibility. These requirements are on the application. Both parents must be Democrats. It is open to male or female.

Our ladies have generously sponsored this scholarship for many years and are proud to do their part to help our young people further their education.

Without everyone's help, this may be the last year we will be able to sponsor this scholarship. I encourage everyone to make a donation toward next years scholarship when yearly dues are paid.

Donations can be given to Adair County Democratic Women's Club officers: Victoria Pike, Cynthia Rowe, Glenda Butler, or Robin Hancock or by calling me at 270-384-3348 or 270-634-2604 or send to 3011 Burkesville Rd. Columbia, KY 42728.

Donations taken from non-members and non-Democrats as well.

Please encourage any graduating senior you know who is eligible for this scholarship to apply. Our ladies work very hard to raise money during the year for this cause. --Victoria Pike
