Another viewpoint: On Westlake Regional Hospital

'The nurses, lab techs, x-ray techs, secretarial staff , and everyone that works at Westlake are wonderful caring people. I think they are among the best you will find, and our drs and nurse practitioners are good , well educated men and women. But they are harnessed with what we have to work with at Westlake' - LOIS CUNNINGHAM

Personal opinions of the writer

I so wish we could support our hospital more, and I agree it is great we have it here. but the facility is so limited in the type of care that is provided there that unless you have an emergeny or waiting for transport to a larger more advanced facility the only things that can be done or ordered there are lab work and simple x-rays....only minor surgeries are performed there...we have no advanced testing...i.e. nuclear meds, advanced stress testing, and even the basic equipment ...is sadly out of date.

If we could start over Westlake would be a great urgent care facility offering advanced diagnostic testing, a great emergency room, and a small wing to hold patients until they can go on to a bigger hospital . the bare bones are there now to do this, but it will take a different mind set to move in that direction .

As it stands now we are so much in debt that none of us will be able to wade out of it, it seems it is one step forward and many steps back... --lois cunningham
