Mr. Samuel Elroy Pepper, Green Co., KY (1928-2014)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, church moderator, and song leader for many years. In his lifetime, Mr. Pepper had a variety of careers including farming, carpentry, furniture making, and factory work. He retired from Ingersol Rand after 19 years of working in compressor assembly.

Mr. Samuel Elroy Pepper, 85, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Grandview Nursing and Rehab in Campbellsville, KY..

The funeral services for Mr. Samuel Elroy Pepper will be conducted at 10amCT/11amET, Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Roger Pepper, Bro. Tommy Tapscott, and Bro. Garnett Wayne Davis will be officiating. Visitation is requested 3pm-8pmCT/4pm-9pmET, Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT/8amET, Thursday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Tyler Pepper, Micah Pepper, Lucas Pepper, Eddie Goff, Bro. Tommy Tapscott, Bro. Garnett, and Wayne Davis.

Mr. Samuel Elroy Pepper, Green Co., KY (1928-2014)

Mr. Samuel Elroy Pepper was the son of the late Richard Denny Pepper and Bertha Price Pepper. He was born on Sunday, February 12, 1928 in Green County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Monday, January 6, 2014 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY. He was 85 years, 10 months, and 25 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, church moderator, and song leader for many years. In his lifetime, Mr. Pepper had a variety of careers including farming, carpentry, furniture making, and factory work. He retired from Ingersol Rand after 19 years of working in compressor assembly.

Besides his parents, Mr. Pepper was preceded in death by his wife: Elois VanArsdale Pepper on June 28, 1994 having united in marriage on October 5, 1949. He was also preceded in death by a grandson: Benjamin Pepper; and two sisters: Leona Milby and Iona Bale.

Survivors include the following:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Brenda and Oval Tapscott of Campbellsville, KY

  • Three sons and two daughters-in-law: Bro. Roger and Anna Jo Pepper, Sam and Christy Pepper all of Hodgenville, and Tony Pepper of Georgia

  • A brother and sister-in-law: Dewey and Florence Pepper of Louisville, KY

  • A sister: Opal Goff of Campbellsville, KY

  • A special friend: Frances Money of Greensburg, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Eight great-grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
