Mrs. Margaret Shelley Bryant, age 95, of the Waterview Community near Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky.

Funeral services for Margaret Shelley Bryant will be conducted on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11amCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY. Burial will be in the Dutch Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Melton, Spencer Melton, Michael Ballard, Gene Willis, Alan Cherry and Brandon Fletcher. The family will receive friends after 4pmCT, on Friday, January 10, 2014 until the funeral hour on Saturday.



Mrs. Margaret Shelley Bryant, 95, Cumberland Co., KY (1918-2014)

She was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Wednesday, September 28, 1918, the daughter of Curtis and Pauline Keen Shelley. She died Monday, January 6, 2014, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, aat hte age of 95 years, 3 months, and 8 days.

She was a member of Grider United Methodist Church, an active member of the Marrowbone P.T.A and the Marrowbone Homemakers, a manager for Bluegrass Eggs and was an avid quilter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward "Soup" Bryant, and the following:
  • Her son: Edward Lee Bryant

  • Three brothers and two sisters

  • Her daughters: Sharon Cherry of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Janice (and Robert) Ennis of Greensburg, Kentucky

  • Her daughter-in-law: Betty Bryant of Waterview, Kentucky

  • Her half-brother and his wife: Curtis, Jr. and Margie Shelley of Glasgow, Kentucky

  • Her grandchildren: Beth Crawley, Becky (and Michael) Ballard, Chris (and Christian) Melton, Spencer (and Nikki) Melton, Allison (and Jodie) Scott, Alan (and Amber) Cherry

  • Her step-grandchildren: Gwen (and Glen) Landis, Jane Kelli and Corkey Skaggs

  • Thirteen great-grandchildren

  • Three step-great-grandchildren

  • One great-great-grandchild

  • And her caregivers: Catherin Frazier, Debbie Dubre and Joyce Blankenship
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Cumberland County Relay for Life, Grider United Methodist Church, Dutch Creek Cemetery or charity of donors choice. Professional services provided by Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, Kentucky.
