By Charles Balcom ELIZABETHTOWN, KY - The seventh-ranked Lindsey Wilson College wrestling team defeated St. Andrews (NC) University 25-16 on Saturday at John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, KY. Lindsey Wilson improves to 3-3 in duals this season with the win while St. Andrews falls to 2-3 in duals with the loss. St. Andrews took a 7-0 lead to start the day after winning the first two matches of the dual. St. Andrews’ Chauncey Foster took a 13-5 major decision over Lindsey Wilson’s Gus Adams at 125 to remain undefeated on the season and give the Knights a 4-0 lead. Dashon Eure then took a 9-5 decision at the 133 weight class over Kadin Scoggins to extend the lead to 7-0. Lindsey Wilson would get their first points of the day after Wismit Moinius defeated Tyran Taylor by a technical fall score of 17-2 at the 141 class to cut the lead to 7-5. The Blue Raiders would win the next three matches to take a 19-7 lead over the Knights. Isaac Thomas won by technical fall (20-5) over Cody Getkin at 149 to take the lead at 10-7. Joe Cozart won the next match at 157 by pinning St. Andrews’ Brandon Eldridge at the 2:05 mark. Cadyn McKeeth then took a close 5-4 decision over Jemson Villard at the 165 class to give Lindsey Wilson the 19-7 lead. St. Andrews won the next match after Corey Hubbard defeated Erick Gomez 3-2 at the 174 weight class to cut the lead to 19-10 with three matches to go. Lindsey Wilson’s Jameel Bryant would pin Denzel Leggett at 184 at the 6:07 mark to give the Blue Raiders a 25-10 lead. Lindsey Wilson would fall in the final two matches of the dual after Jake Maupin fell in an 8-3 decision at 197 and Ameer Daniels lost 6-4 at 285. The Blue Raiders also participated in three exhibition matches after completion of the dual. Scoggins won by a 14-4 major decision at 125 while Zach McCormick and Scott Flesher both won by pins at the 157 and 165 weight classes in the exhibitions. Complete Results LWC 25 - St. Andrews 16
