Lura Opal West, 92, of Russell Springs, died Friday, January 3, 2014, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset., KY.

Funeral service for Lura Opal West will be 12pm noon CT Noon Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Elvis Tucker officiating. Friends may call after 10amCT Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Square Oak Cemetery.

She was born Friday, July 22, 1921 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Jonah and Erva Woods Tucker. She died Friday, January 3, 2014, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 92 years, 5 months, and 12 days.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlie Hugh West; a son, Bobby Hugh West; and a brother, Omer Tucker. Survivors include the following:
  • Five children: Betty Lou Owens, Indiana; Ella Fern Polston, Michael Ray West, and Garlin Wayne West, all of Russell Springs, KY; and Jeanie Fortune, Nancy, KY

  • Eight grandchildren

  • Ten great grandchildren

  • Eighteen great great grandchildren

  • Sister: Ruby Wheeler Moore, Ohio
