Indians Fall to 2 Time Champion John Hardin 72-69

The Adair County Indians played their best basketball game of the season in a 72-69 loss to 2 time 5th Region Champion John Hardin Friday night. The game was part of the McDonald's Classic played at the John Burr Memorial Gym.


Several Indians turned in outstanding performances. Freshman forward Chance Melton scored a career high 27 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and handed out 7 assists while senior point guard Matt Fudge scored 13 points and handed out 6 assists while committing only one turnover. Sophomore forward Jacob Pooler was also in double figures with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Rounding out the scoring were Zach Hutchison 7, Marshall Shelley 7, and Ty Bennett 3.

The Bulldogs led 20-18 after one period. The Indians used a balanced scoring attack to go on a 16-8 run and go up 34-28 at halftime. The Tribe went on a 6-0 run to start the second half and led 40-28 with 5:30 remaining in the third period. John Hardin out scored the Indians 22-10 over the remainder of the period to knot the score 50-50.

The lead went back and forth in the final period before the Bulldogs pulled away late. John Hardin connected on 12 of 14 from the line in the final period out scoring the Indians 22-19 to make the final 72-69. The Bulldogs led 67-66 before going on a 5-0 run. A late three brought the Indians back to within 3.
