Mr. James Allen Edwards, 88, of Green County, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, December 16, 2013 at the University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY.

The funeral services for Mr. James Allen Edwards will be conducted at 11amCT,, Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery. Bro. Fellow Wilson and Bro. Greg Estes will be officiating. Visitation is requested 5pm-9pmCT, Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Wednesday until time of the funeral service.

Mr. James Allen Edwards of Green County, Kentucky, son of the late Albert Edwards and Theresa Dowell Edwards, was born on Saturday, August 29, 1925 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Monday, December 16, 2013 at the University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. He was 88 years, 3 months, and 17 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was an electrician. He was also a WWII veteran having served in the United States Army.

Survivors include the following:
  • His children and their spouses: Jeff and Cindy Edwards, Todd and Shannon Edwards, Michele and Timmy Patterson, Tonya Wright, Nathan Edwards all of Greensburg, KY; Rocky Edwards of Campbellsville, KY; Theresa Pruyear, and Renea Edwards both of Burkesville, KY

  • A sister: Eleanor Edwards of California

  • The mother of his children: Opal Barger Edwards of Greensburg, KY

  • Twenty grandchildren

  • Two step-grandchildren

  • Twenty-three great-grandchildren

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
Mr. Edwards was also preceded in death by a daughter: Terina Kay Edwards; and three brothers: William Edwards, Roy Edwards, and Ernest Edwards.
