By Alan W. Reed, Adair County School Superintendent

The Lake Cumberland Area Development District is holding a public hearing tomorrow evening Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 6pmCT in the Adair Annex Basement, 424 Public Square, regarding the grants to create a satellite campus of the Lake Cumberland Area Technology Center at Adair County High School.

Community support from business, education, community leaders and general public is an important piece for the satellite vocational/technical school campus. Judy Keltner (LCADD) and I would appreciate your presence if only to drop in, sign the sheet and make a quick comment for the record.

This construction project at ACHS falls between $1.1 and $1.2 million dollars, with all but around $300K coming from two federal grants going through LCADD and county and city governments.

Student surveys indicate over 500 students interested in either the welding/metal fabrication program or the health sciences program. All students are expected to be both college and/or career ready at ACHS and final approval of this project would be a big boost for student achievement and for the local economy of Columbia/Adair County.
