Rita Smith: Reduce speed, approaching intersection signs needed

Comments re article 63769 When will stoplight be installed at Greenhills RD/KY 206

Rita Smith writes:
Just my opinion, but the subject on the Greenhills Road, and on Burkesville Street, of installing a stop light, to control the wrecks would be useless. When I go out of town and come upon a sign informing me that an intersection is near, it gets my immediate attention. I start slowing down. You never know who else is approaching you.

So lets try and look into the matter of getting "Intersection approaching" signs installed where needed along with "reduce speed." It gets my attention. - Rita Smith
Thanks for good suggestion on the signage: It would help, especially if signs to reduce speed coming west, toward town had speeds reduced incrementally to 25mph on the town side of the bridge.

Nowhere near the campus should the speed be more than 25mph, in my opinion.

And it's hard for me to see how the intersections will ever be safe without stop lights, but Somerset has come up with some pretty novel ways to safely facilitate traffic flow. The intersection at Jamestown and Russell Road is one example.

Makes you almost nostalgic for a traffic jam to fuss at. That, with a video system catching registration plate numbers and automated traffic ticket issuance should do the job without overtaxing law enforcement. - EW
