She was the matriarch of a highly regarded North Metcalfe County, KY family, the daughter of the late Leslie and Bertha Pedigo Reece and the widow of Herman Junior Gilley. She leaves 13 direct living descendants. She was a homemaker and member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church

Dorothy M. Gilley age 85 of Knob Lick, Kentucky died Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT, Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Big Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Tuesday, December 3, 2013, and after 9amCT Wednesday at the funeral home.



She was the daughter of the late Leslie and Bertha Pedigo Reece.

She was a homemaker and member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Tanya and husband George Walenga of Bowling Green, KY

  • Three sons: Gerald and wife Yongzhi Gilley of Spring, Texas; Ronnie and wife Marilyn Gilley of Gallatin, TN; and David and wife Amy Gilley of Shepherdsville, KY

  • Six grandchildren. Dan, Laura, Linda, Andrew, Samuel and Haven

  • Four great grandchildren: Zach, Leo, Cassie and Alex

  • One sister: Frances Ferguson of Louisville, KY

  • Four brothers: Leslie Paul Reece of Lebanon, TN; Norman Reece of Louisville, KY; Wendell Reece of Glasgow, KY; and Homer Reece of Louisville, KY/li>
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Herman Junior Gilley, one daughter Wanda Diane Gilley and one sister Maxine Pitcock.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
