Thursday night the Lindsey Wilson (6-0, 1-0 MSC) women's team upset No. 11 Shawnee State 81-74 in Portsmouth, Ohio. Kayla Richardson led the way in the win with 21 points followed by 20 points from Bre Elder and a double-double from Jamie Cummings. Cummings, Elder and Richardson are averaging double-digit points this season along with teammate Chanel Roberts. Roberts leads the team with 7.8 rebounds per game. Rio Grande (5-2, 0-1 MSC) enters the game coming off a 97-89 loss to No. 7 Cumberland (Lebanon, TN) University on Thursday night. Brianna Thomas leads the Red Storm with 21.0 points per game. The No. 10 Lindsey Wilson (4-2, 0-1 MSC) men's team suffered its second loss of the season in the Mid-South Conference opener to Shawnee State. The Blue Raiders fell behind in the second half of that game and were unable to close the gap, falling 63-54. Tony Horne leads the Blue Raiders with 19.2 points per game followed by Daronte' Clark with 13.2 points per game. Rio Grande (3-2, 0-1 MSC) fell to Cumberland 74-72 Thursday night in their conference opener after a last second 3-point attempt was blocked. The Red Storm is led by Philip Hertz with 17.6 points per game. Rio Grande ranks sixth in the NAIA with 17.8 offensive rebounds per game.
