Heartfelt Veterans program at ACHS, Nov. 11, 2013 Many students, veterans take part in the program. Click on headline for complete story with names, photo(s) By Shamarie Claiborne, Media Publicity Director Adair County School District, 1204 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY Yesterday the Adair County High School had a wonderful heartfelt Veteran's Day Program. The program was hosted by students in the National Honor Society and Staff with direct ties to the armed forces. Kelsey Pyles started the program out with a short but tender prayer asking the Lord to watch over all those who continue to serve in our countries military. Emily Peck then welcomed everyone with her warm smile and kind words. The members from the ADAIR band played the National Anthem. Natalie Bertram educated us all on the history of Veteran's Day. Next we were honored that staff and students saluted each branch of the military that is dear to their hearts. Sheila Willis and Joanne Held presented a salute to the Marines. Ashley Simpson and Margaret Harden saluted the Army. Matt Willis saluted the Navy/ And then Dawn Baker saluted the Air Force. Then the crowd was treated to a wonderful voice performance of "I'm Proud to be an American" sung by Rikki Neat. The closing remarks were given by Madelyn Murrell who read a wonderful poem about the Noble and Brave. All and all it was a wonderful event and we were honored to give thanks to a great group of people. Representing the Air Force we had Charles W. Sparks, and Jordan Baker. From the Marines we had Irvin Betram, Jennifer Nuntavong, Brian Held, and Brad Scholl. The Navy representative was James W. Harper. And the Army was proudly represented by Clifton Cowan, Harry V. Taylor, Jason Simpson, Robert Meacham, Sammy Hughes, Danny Burton, Arch Biag, Mike Tester, Jeremy Austin, John Ballou, Brad Scholl, Orvis Grider, Shahid Iqbal, and Robert Emerson. - Shamarie Claiborne This story was posted on 2013-11-12 12:19:10
