LWC Basketball/Women defeat Cincinnati Christian 84-58

COLUMBIA, KY- The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Cincinnati Christian University 84-58 Friday night at Biggers Sports Center.



Lindsey Wilson improves to 2-0 on the season with the win while Cincinnati Christian falls to 0-4.

Jamie Cummings led the way for the Blue Raiders scoring 17 points on 8-of-11 field goals. Cummings also pulled down seven rebounds. Bre Elder was second in scoring with 13 points including knocking down 5-of-6 free throws.

Chanel Roberts and Kayla Richardson finished in double-figures for the first time in their Lindsey Wilson careers, each scoring 12 points. Roberts also tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven.

Tara Arnold and Cassidy Martin both finished with 10 points and two rebounds on the night.

Keosha Wisener led the team with five assists in the win.

Roberts scored the opening basket of the game for Lindsey Wilson and triggered a 10-2 run for the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson would extend that lead by as many as 15 in the first half after a three-pointer by Martin gave the Blue Raiders a 26-11 lead.

Cincinnati Christian would claw their way back into the game with a 9-0 run to cut the lead to four at 32-28. The Blue Raiders and Eagles would exchange baskets before Lindsey Wilson took a 44-37 lead into the half.

Lindsey Wilson opened the second half on an 11-0 run and held a double-digit lead for the remainder for the remainder of the game. The largest lead of the game came after a Richardson field goal made it 84-56 with just over a minute to play.

Lindsey Wilson finished with just nine turnovers compared to 26 for Cincinnati Christian. The Blue Raider bench outscored the Eagles' bench 24-0. Lindsey Wilson also shot 90 percent from the free throw line.
