Almost 100 aspiring entrepreneurs at 3rd Entrepreneurial Expo

COLUMBIA, KY - Almost 100 aspiring entrepreneurs packed the Lindsey Wilson College Norma and Glen Center for Discipleship Thursday afternoon, November 7, 2013, for the Third-Annual Entrepreneurial and Career Expo.



Sponsored by the LWC Center for Entrepreneurship, the event invited LWC students from all disciplines to propose a business concept, which was evaluated by three judges for three top cash prizes that totaled $1,800.

Guests were also to vote for a "fan favorite" proposal via Twitter using the hashtag #lwcexpo.

At total of 34 exhibits by 93 students were entered into the competition.

The expo's sponsor was 1994 LWC alumnus Pash Nangia, who is vice president of finance and information technology for a division of Ametek Inc. of Knoxville, TN, a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices.

The winners were:
  • First Place Overall - The Campus Closet: Jordan Cruze of Elizabethtown, KY, Christina Faulls of Owensboro, KY and Moriah Hourigan of Springfield, KY
  • Second Place Overall - Error Correct: Trey Grider and Adam Poff, both of Columbia.
  • Fan Favorite and Third Place Overall- The PR Guys: Nick Cox of Dry Ridge, KY; Branden Cresap of Shelbyville, KY; Chris Dobbins of Murray, KY; Austin Howell of Bowling Green, KY; Matthew Page of Shelbyville, KY; and Matthew Powers of Harrogate, TN.
The expo's major of focus was communication, so it featured a keynote talk by Kate Matthews, who is compliance coordinator in athletics services at the University of Louisville.
