Kathryn Miller: Outraged at treatment of patient in area office

What my friend got from this provider was awful . . . Granted, Kentucky (like every state) does have problems with pill poppers and drug users, but they do not account for the majority of the population and to just randomly judge someone the provider has never even had as patient before is completely unprofessional - KATHRYN MILLER

By Kathryn Miller

I will start by letting you know I am leaving out the name of this provider and the patient as I am not interested in embarrassing the place they work for or the patient.

Recently, a friend and coworker visited a local area doctor's office and saw a new provider who had recently began working there. He was in serious pain from major dental issues and needed something a little stronger than over the counter meds. He was not looking for heavy narcotics, just something to help him with this terrible pain. He is a good person and hates taking medicine but will do it if he absolutely needs to.

Well, what my friend got from this provider was awful. The provider came in the room without his chart and said he/she would not give him anything because she thinks he and ALL people in Kentucky are nothing but drug users and pill poppers. My acquaintance was very upset at this and he told her he was just going to leave. The provider then told him "don't come back." If this is how he/she really feels about people in Kentucky, then maybe she/he should go back to where she came from. The provider had NO right to accuse him or judge the entire state of being addicts.

Granted, Kentucky (like every state) does have problems with pill poppers and drug users, but they do not account for the majority of the population and to just randomly judge someone the provider has never even had as patient before is completely unprofessional and he/she should be up for review for his/her actions. - Kathryn Miller
